Swordfish Cross Cut Shredders
Swordfish Cross Cut Paper Shredder Range
Now Swordfish isn't a brand name that is immediately recognisable, or as well known as some, but they are carving out a sizeable protion of the Croiss Cut Shredder market with their range of powerfil, yet sensibly priced Cross Cut Shredders.
Whilst not the most comprehensive range of Cross Cut Shredders on the market, Swordfish Cross Cut Shredders have a machine positioned very nicely in all the major Cross Cut Shredder market segments. Usually slightly more powerful, or with a slightly increased capacity over similarly priced Cross Cut Shredders from other (household name) manufacturers, Swordfish Cross Cut Shredders represent outstanding value and performance at excellent prices.
Why should you buy a cross cut shredder rather than a strip cut shredder? The sad fact is, that in these modern times, crime rates - in particular identity theft - are on the increase. A strip cut shredder will simply cut your document into 30 or 40 thin strips along the full length of the document. Not that difficult for a determined identity thief to reassemble and then steal your information from. Enter the cross cut shredder. Depending on the level of security required, Swordfish Cross Cut Shredders will slice your document lengthways and also across the page, in varying lengths from two or three centimetres, (an inch or two), right down to 3 or 4 mm. (less than half an inch).
Now, whilst it is not impossible to retrieve documents that your Swordfish Cross Cut Shredder has cut down to this sort of size, most identity thieves will give up at this point and move on to a less security minded target. Meaning that your Swordfish Cross Cut Shredder has a value far in excess of its purchase price if you consider the implications of having your identity stolen, compared to NOT having it stolen!
With Swordfish Cross Cut Shredders, you have a variety of models at prices to suit every budget. The main factors to consider when buying a shredder are:
1. How much do you need to shred? (How many sheets in a week and how many at a time?)
2. Consider the size of the catch bin. (Go as big as you can, as emptying shredders can become a chore!)
3. Do you need credit card shredding? (If you can, go for this option as chopping a card with scissors is no fun!)
4. Do you need CD\DVD shredding? (Many people don't but many shredders now have this capability.)
5. What is the warranty like? The warranty on the complete machine is often different to the blade warranty.
My experience with shredders has taught me to always slightly overestimate the usage you expect to put your shredder to and try and buy a machine that will do more than you think you need. If you are a private householder for instance, you will need a shredder that will happily shred credit cards. You may well have private information on CD that you want to destroy and a shredder for CD's will be useful in this case. You will almost certainly need a shredder that can handle staples and paperclips, as almost everyone I know at some time or other has shredder documents that are clill clipped of stapled together! Most important of all as I have found to my cost, you need to go for the absolute maximum number of sheets at a time that you can afford! There is nothing more frustrating than feeding your underpowered cross cut shredder with sheets one at a time when you have a job of say shredding a year's bank statements for example! I would recommend not even looking at anything less than 5 sheets at a time!
Realistically a minimum of 8 sheets would be a good working number to aim at.
